Puerto Rico scores easy victory over Trinidad & Tobago

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 5, 2010 – Puerto Rico enjoyed a smooth path towards its first win in Pool B by recording an  overwhelming 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-20) victory over Trinidad & Tobago in the opening match of NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Championship at High Development Center Gym in Tijuana.

Genesis Collazo and Jennifer Quesada each compiled 12 points for the winners while Diana Reyes and Neira Ortiz added 9 and 7 points as Puerto Rico out-served Trinidad & Tobago 18-6.

“We played two sets of very good level and third one was of ups and downs,” Argentinean coach of Puerto Rico Alejandro Arconada said. “But that’s the learning part of what we need to do to form these players for teams of upper categories.”

“We played very little volleyball but that’s what happen when you play teams like Puerto Rico which has more experience,” Trinidadian coach Macsood Ali said after the match.
